You are invited to the premier screening of

"MARINSHIP MEMORIES"

When: Friday, May 8, at 6 p.m.

Where: First Missionary Baptist Church, 501 Drake Avenue, Marin City

"Workers needed in the shipyards," was the cry heard throughout the South in 1942 after the attack on Pearl Harbor brought America into WWII.

"Marinship Memories" tells the story of the birth of Marin City through the eyes of four surviving Marinship workers, who came to work as welders and ship painters. It starts with their arrival in Sausalito to work on the construction of ships -- ships that helped win the war.

Entertainer and public affairs specialist Noah Griffin narrates, and Performing Stars of Marin executive director Felecia Gaston introduces the interviewees. This documentary was produced by LifeStoriesDVD and sponsored by Supervisor Charles McGlashan, Marin County Board of Supervisors, (3rd District.) The screening is sponsored by the Senior Sunshine Club. Films of the construction of Marinship and of the ships used in the documentary were supplied by the Bay Model Visitor Center.

Admission is free and open to the public
